Peer reviewed, popular or trade?

Most databases allow you to  limit your search to peer-reviewed articles. However, if you aren't sure if an article is peer-reviewed this guide will help you make the determination.

Search Google Scholar

ETSU has partnered with Google to make our holdings available from within the search engine--just click on the familiar "Get It @ ETSU." If you're off-campus, you do need to set your preferences to let them know you're affiliated with the University.

 [Warning:  if you pull a citation through 'Get It @ ETSU' to ILLiad, the interlibrary loan app, check that all the information shows up!  Google is great, but even its crawlbots can't dig out the volume and page numbers from all sites.]

You'll find  buttons in nearly all of the ETSU databases you search. When you click on the button, pay attention to the FIRST listing, and it should help you get the item. If the first thing in the list says:

Online access you should see a link to the database/s in which the article resides. You may have to click on more than one database to find the full text. If the article doesn't come up immediately when you click on the link, then you may have to hunt around a bit to find the exact volume number, issue, date, and pages you need.

Check holdings then No full text available for your institution. Click on ETSU Sherrod ILL and fill in all the information, our Interlibrary Loan service will borrow the item from another library for you and send a link to the item via e-mail.
